May 23, 2005

"Extra" hung out backstage at the 32nd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards Friday night with the biggest winner of the night, Ellen DeGeneres. The talk show host was literally singing and dancing for joy after picking up Emmys for Best Talk Show and Best Host. "Theyíre heavy, thatís what it feels like," she joked of her double fisted awards, which included Outstanding Talk Show and Talk Show Host.

Ellenís show won a total of five Emmys, and the daytime TV dancing queen admitted she had to fight back tears. "That just came out of nowhere," she admitted. "I don't think I was going to start crying. It was right below the surface, and I am processing it right now already."

Another triumphant star was Meredith Vieira, who was named Best Game Show Host for "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" making her the first woman ever to win a game show award.

Meanwhile, the queen of daytime soaps, Susan Lucci, admitted sheíd love to visit her favorite nighttime soap, "Desperate Housewives."

Also there as a presenter was Simone Cowell, who predicted the "American Idol" finals would be a real nail biter.

But right now, TVís undisputed daytime "American Idol" is Ellen.
