Tiger Gets Personal
May 23, 2005
Exclusive: it was the Tiger Woods few ever get the chance to see, as the golf star opened up only to "Extra" about his dad, his wife and a private lesson with "Desperate Housewives" star Teri Hatcher.
We caught up with Tiger at his charity concert, "Tiger Jam 8" in Las Vegas. Tiger gave "Extra" his first in-depth interview since his emotional win at the Masters, when he dedicated his win to his sick dad, Earl, who is battling cancer.
"Heís struggling a little bit," Tiger told us. "The radiation treatments, heís done with them before Augusta. But he has good days and bad days."
Despite his dad's illness, Tiger said he's had a lot of good days lately, thanks to his new marriage to Swedish stunner Elin Nordegren. "It just makes life so much happier," he revealed. "I mean sheís as fiery a competitor as I am. Weíre definitely competing in everything we do."
But at Tiger Jam 8, the golf star was doing everything he could to help kids. "The kids are our future," he declared.
But we really wanted to know about Teri Hatcherís future in golf. Howíd she do in her private lesson with Woods? "She hadn't played in nine years, but she's got a golf swing," Tiger revealed. "Sheís decent."
Teriís thoughts? "That was amazing," she said.
Yes, it was certainly an amazing weekend with an amazing athlete who seems ready to open up and share his life with his fans.
