Stars Come Out for Julia Roberts' Broadway Debut
April 20, 2006
Two thousand miles from the seclusion of their New Mexico ranch, Oscar winner Julia Roberts and her husband Danny Moder enjoyed a rare night out under the bright lights of the Big Apple.
"Extra" was in New York City as Julia prepared to make her Broadway debut in "Three Days of Rain," and only we got the last minute vote of confidence from Danny as he arrived for his wife's big night.
So, what were his last words to his "Pretty Woman" before her big debut? "I love you so much," he revealed.
"Extra's" Tanika Ray caught up with Julia to find out what convinced her to do Broadway. "It's just a thrilling challenge," she revealed. "Something I've always wanted to do."
The $25 million woman was beaming after her performance, which brought out famous faces like Tim Robbins, Susan Sarandon, Mayor Bloomberg, Marcia Gay Harden, James Gandolfini and even talk show queen Oprah Winfrey.
Oprah blew in from the Windy City, straight off the set of her show. "I am confident that she's going to blow us all away," Oprah said, making it clear why she had to be there for Julia's opening night. "That's what friends do for friends."
Julia's celebrated acting skills and stamina will be put to the test, as she performs eight shows a week for the next two months. "It's really hard," Roberts admitted. "Just to really try to do it all exactly right, from start to finish, every night. It's a huge feat."
