Real Life 'Desperate' Drama?
April 4, 2005
"Extra's" got an exclusive look at the deliciously desperate divas from Wisteria Lane like you've never seen them before, at Vanity Fair's sizzling May photo shoot! Sexy Eva unplugged in the bedroom, the plumber on his knees in Teri's kitchen, Marcia in the garden, Felicity poolside and naughty Nicolette revisiting that famous car wash scene.
The red-hot cover reveals all five bathing beauties lounging poolside, and "Extra" was first to show it to the cast. "It's good," Marcia Cross observed.
It looked like all smiles during the shoot, but Vanity Fair's Ned Zeman witnessed a real-life soap opera unfold between the ladies. He says the all-day shoot was filled with tears, tantrums and profanity.
"Finally Marcia had enough and started swearing at this publicist in front of dozens of people," he revealed.
Zeman says the trouble started before the shoot even began, when ABC demanded that Teri Hatcher not be placed in the middle of any group photos. "Teri Hatcher was always in the center, and I think that probably rubbed some people the wrong way," Zeman told us.
And Zeman claims the catfight made Teri weep: "She was talking on her cell phone in tears basically because she was, in essence, the cause of it."
But "Extra" caught up with Teri Sunday night at The Comedy for a Cure event in Los Angeles, where she was all smiles and just grateful to be on the cover. "I know what's in the article and, however it comes off, I believe that everyone is as grateful to be on the show as I am," she told us.
And in exclusive interviews, Eva, Marcia and Felicity told Jerry that the cast is very close. "They forget we just shot a 16-hour day the day before," Eva insisted. "And when someone is tweaking every little hair, it's like 'stop touching us, just shoot the picture!'"
"You know what, they are going to say it as long as we work together," Cross said. "I think it makes it much more interesting."
"We have mud fights, we have wet-shirt fights," Felicity joked.
Well, whether it's real-life drama or on TV, America just can't get enough of the "Desperate Housewives."
And don't miss Monday's "Extra" to see the
ladies in action at the Vanity Fair shoot and a sneak
peek at the photos and cover.
