Paula Abdul Signs Multi-Million Dollar Deal with ‘Idol'
March 30, 2006

There was a whole lot of shaking going on Wednesday night on "American Idol," and not just by sexy guest star Shakira. The "Idol" contestants anxiously waited to find out who would be leaving the competition.

But in the end, it was goodbye time for 16-year-old Lisa Tucker. "You know this has been the experience of a lifetime," Lisa said. "I wouldn't change it for anything."

As Lisa left, big "Idol" news was breaking behind the scenes. After numerous rumors that she was about to be fired, unpredictable judge Paula Abdul signed a new 3-year deal worth millions.

Simon was mum on Paula's new deal, but he did tell "Extra's" Terri Seymour he has some regrets, among them not being a judge on his other hit production "American Inventor."

But the inventors are lucky he's not on the judge's panel. "I just want to jump up and go, ‘This is terrible, leave,'" Cowell said.

Simon also told us about an "American Inventor" story that brought tears to everyone's eyes, even the judges. One dad on the show risked the family fortune of $80,000 on a new kids' game. "That was from savings, pensions, everything," the father said. "I just put it all on the line."
