Beyoncé's Stylin' With House of Dereon
March 4, 2005

Mega-talented star BeyoncÈ Knowles always turns heads on the red carpet, thanks to mom Tina, who has styled and designed for her and the divas of Destiny's Child. Now, this mother-daughter combo is taking on a new role: fashion designer.

"Extra's" Tanika Ray was invited to preview the eclectic House of Dereon, which was named after BeyoncÈ's grandmother. And this threesome is quite the combination, as Tina explained, "I'm the couture, BeyoncÈ's the kick and grandmother is the soul."

BeyoncÈ told us she doesn't have to look far for inspiration, revealing, "I think music and fashion go hand in hand."

The House of Dereon line includes beautiful blouses, flared skirts and sexy styles. Tina explained to us the line's vast appeal: "Something I think that everyone can relate to of all age groups: chic fashionable."

Tina and BeyoncÈ have been working on the collection for more than two years. "I'm very involved," BeyoncÈ explained. "Even when I can't make it to every meeting, my mother is with me and she will harass me, 'What do you like? We have a deadline.'"

And Tina and BeyoncÈ promise not to forget about real women. "When you're a curvy woman, sometimes it's difficult to find a pair of jeans that fit in the waist and the hips," BeyoncÈ insisted. "We're working on that."

The House of Dereon clothing line will hit stores during the 2005 holiday season.
