Will Barbara Bring the Tears?
February 25, 2005
The secret heartbreak of Teri Hatcher, the lost past
of Jamie Foxx and the private fantasies of Will Ferrell
-- these are just some of the superstar secrets we discovered
in our sneak peek at Barbara Walters' 24th annual Oscar
Special on ABC Sunday night.
The special begins with "Ray" star and double Oscar nominee Foxx, who tells Walters his first Hollywood job was as a ladies' shoe salesman. But Jamie wasn't without a good sales pitch: "I'd say eight and a half, nine and a half, knowing they were a size ten!"
Then "Desperate Housewives'" Teri Hatcher opens her house and heart to Barbara to talk about the breakup of her marriage to Jon Tenney, who is the father of their 7-year-old daughter, Emerson.
"There were some pretty low points within my marriage," Hatcher confides. "I really wanted to make it work, particularly for Emerson. I wanted her to have two parents in the same house."
Meanwhile, red-hot Will Ferrell is in his usual comic good form, especially when Barbara asks if he ever fantasized about winning an Academy Award. "Sure, yeah," Ferrell responds. "But I'm usually naked when I accept it, and I'm quickly rushed off the stage."
Barbara also makes a return to her alma mater "20/20" on Friday night with the first part of an Oscar double header. The special will feature the likes of Harrison Ford, Will Smith, Whoopi Goldberg, Jim Carrey, Cher, Oprah Winfrey, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Halle Berry and of course, Barbara Walters, who has remained the queen of the Oscars after nearly a quarter of a century.
"It is a full hour of the best, funniest, most touching moments of 24 years of doing Academy Awards specials," Barbara told us.
