'Idol' Insider: Audition Fever February
1, 2005
LL Cool J joins the "American Idol" judges'
table Tuesday night for another must-see round of auditions,
and "Extra" got the inside scoop from host
Ryan Seacrest on how LL made the judges do something
they've never done before.
"He actually got up out of his seat and hugged a contestant who had a rough audition," Seacrest revealed. "And that led to the judges, for the first time, all getting up and doing the same thing."
But don't worry; you know that with Simon there, "Idol" won't turn into a big love fest. Tonight he'll tell one contestant, "I don't think you and I are on the same planet, sweetheart."
In other big "Idol" news, judge Paula Abdul
is talking about reviving her own solo career, saying
that after this season, she's going to get back in the
recording studio. "It's something that we've talked
with her about. Even during the commercial breaks on
'American Idol,' we try and get her to stand up and
perform for the studio audience," Seacrest told
us. "Good luck Paula, we're all here for you --
except Simon, and he's just jealous."
Meanwhile, even though former "Idol" winners move on to bigger and better things, don't think they don't tune into the show. "Idol" champ Fantasia Barrino told us she's seen some serious singing skills this season. "It's been funny," she admitted. "They have some talent, but they've been showing a lot of funny, funny things."
So tune in to "American Idol" Tuesday night on FOX to catch the wacky, the talented and the singing-impaired.
