What Really Went Down on 'American Idol'
Wednesday night on "American Idol," Simon Cowell threw a fit worthy of a 5 year old. During auditions, the King of Mean became so mad at fellow judges Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul that he stormed out of the room!
"Simon, this is something women would do," touted Jackson to "Extra's" Terri Seymour.
The tension mounted when Paula accused Simon of taking off in the company jet after the spat. But according to Jackson, Paula is wrong… Simon did more than that. "He left, went to the hotel and got his own bags," Jackson revealed. "He hired his own jet back to Los Angeles. That is crazy!"
But the "Idol" drama didn't stop there. ABC talk show host Jimmy Kimmel tracked down former contestant and alleged Paula lover, Corey Clark (who was selling his CDs on Hollywood Boulevard). Kimmel asked him for a final message to Paula, and Clark said, "I would tell her thanks for all the help, I really appreciate it."
This latest comment just adds to the bizarre list of "Idol" headlines this season, including questions about the unfair treatment of contestants. In response to the accusations, Jackson said, "You can be gay; you can be whatever you want to be. So I think they took offense to the wrong thing."
But Randy said somewhere in the mix of the temper and scandal, is one of the most talented groups of contestants ever. Including America's new "Paris", who's already stealing headlines.
As for Paris' status as a frontrunner going into the Hollywood Round, Simon said the columnists who claim a winner has already been crowned have it all wrong. "There's no clear frontrunner like there was last year," Cowell said.
As for an apology from Simon after Wednesday night's tirade… don't count on it! But Mr. Randy does have a message for the King of Mean: "If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen!"
