Aniston Supported by Friends at Sundance Premiere
January 20, 2006
Park City, Utah, may be a celebrity haven, but Jennifer Aniston is certainly the main event at the 25th Annual Sundance Film Festival. And just like her latest character in "Friends with Money," Jen is getting by with a little help from her friends, including co-stars Catherine Keener and Joan Cusack.
Jen looked radiant at her "Money" premiere
on Thursday, despite the recent news that her ex-husband
is going to be a daddy. Ironically, it was announced
that Angelina's adopted children, Zahara and Maddox,
had legally become Jolie-Pitts right in the middle of
Jen's big day.
But a smiling Aniston remained cool, calm and collected
despite the media glare as her movie kicked off this
year's festival. "It's actually wonderful to be
here," said "Money" director Nicole Holofcener,
who entered the premiere with Jen. "And this is
the first time with so much fanfare!" Fanfare including
Sting and wife Trudie and Robert Downey Jr. and wife
Susan Levine.
In "Friends with Money," Jen plays a successful
career woman who loses her job and becomes a humble
housekeeper. In one scene of the film, she slips into
a sexy French maid's outfit for her screen love interest,
Scott Caan, who is James Caan's son. "It was a
lot of fun," Scott admitted. "A good time."
Although all eyes are on Jen at Sundance, Scott recalled the media frenzy that took place when "Money" began shooting, just one day after Jen and Brad's split. "It was pretty obnoxious," he told us. "But you get used to it. And she had to deal with it pretty often."
Another big attraction Thursday night was the legendary
Robert Redford, Mr. Sundance himself, who revealed what
his biggest contribution has been to the festival over
the past 25 years. "We could create something that
was criticized in the beginning as bound to fail because
it wasn't commercial," he said. "And it has
worked, and I'm happy with it."
We're happy with it too, Mr. Redford. Here's to another 25 years of the sun shining down on Sundance!
