Globes Fashion Preview: Dazzling Diamonds Delight!
January 12, 2006
The nominees of the 63rd Annual Golden Globes Awards shined so brightly onscreen that they caught the attention of the critics. But on Monday night, the stars will dazzle the world with their draping diamonds.
Whether it's a 19-carat diamond ring or a jaw-dropping necklace, Harry Winston's Susy Corb hinted that dramatic ruby and emerald colors will be abundant on the red carpet. But it's not about color as much as it is about the size of the rock. "When you hold a trophy or open an envelope," Susy explained, "It's the idea of this big piece of ice."
Inside the Beverly Hills Platinum Guild International Suite, celebrity designer Michael O'Connor had the perfect piece for nominee Reese Witherspoon. "This is $150 thousand, platinum with natural colored diamonds," O'Connor showed us. "This would look fabulous against her pale skin and blonde hair."
As for the young, edgy Hollywood crowd, Greg Kwiat of Kwiat Diamonds had the perfect suggestion for Keira Knightley, Michelle Williams and Scarlett Johansson. "Something bold," Kwait said, pointing out that veterans Gwyneth Paltrow and Charlize Theron know how to wear the bling: "They've proven themselves -- they like to wear one big statement piece."
