The Search for the Perfect Cocktail Dress
January 2 , 2006

Eva Longoria looks stunning in short and sexy, and Sarah Jessica Parker is fabulous in frills. Put that together with beads, metallic, separates and a rainbow of colors, and you have just a few reasons to toast this year's cutting-edge cocktail trends.

Renowned fashion designer Reem Acra, who has dressed stars like Angelina Jolie and Catherine Zeta-Jones, told us it's bye-bye to basic black. "It's time to throw out that black in your closet and get into color," she insisted.

Acra also said two pieces can be better than one. And the more beads, the better! "This one in particular is embellished in gold thread in a print that's very vintage-looking," Acra showed us.

Designer Angel Sanchez created Sandra Bullock's beautiful wedding dress and Longoria's unbelievable Emmy gown. Her new cocktail creations feature lots of pinks, chiffons and elegant balloon bottoms. "This collection is all about softness, and it's very feminine," Sanchez explained.

And don't forget those fabulous feathers! "This is one of my favorites," Sanchez showed us. "This is fun."

So if you're planning to step out in a short cocktail dress, why not try one of these sassy and sophisticated new styles.
