Prince Harry's Nazi Costume Shocks World January
13, 2005 A photograph of Prince Harry is
sending shockwaves around the globe. The picture shows
the young prince dressed up as a Nazi for a costume
party, and now, Princess Diana's son has a lot of explaining
to do.
The criticism is pouring in. One former Buckingham Palace
officer couldn't believe Harry could be so ignorant,
saying, "You cannot but know what happened, and
yet he can dress up like that and go to a party and
be photographed."
But a former member of the royal family is rushing to
Harry's defense. In an interview with Soledad O'Brien
on CNN, Sarah "Fergie" Ferguson insisted that
Harry is a great kid and his mother would be proud of
him. "I know what it's like to have bad press,"
Sarah said. "I had it for a long time. It's all
very well to come down hard on him; he's been through
a lot in his life. I fully support him one-hundred percent."
Since the photograph surfaced, Harry has gone on damage
control. He issued an apology, which reads in part:
"I am very sorry if I caused offense or embarrassment
to anyone."
And in an ironic twist, later this month Harry's grandmother,
Queen Elizabeth, will commemorate the Holocaust, but
now some are suggesting Harry should visit some of the
memorials himself.
