Rumor Control: In the Works
January 3, 2005 The
holidays are over and the Hollywood gossip-mills are
churning, so it looks like it's time for a little rumor
control.
Though there wasn't much holiday cheer for Martha
Stewart at Camp Cupcake, rumors say the domestic
diva spent New Year's all alone -- but it's not true!
Martha had two visitors at the West Virginia lockup,
including her daughter, Alexis, who walked the grounds
with her mom. Martha is due to be released March 6th.
Meanwhile, Britney Spears may have
been out of the limelight recently, but that won't last
much longer as the sultry songstress is rocking in the
New Year making new music - now rumors say she's also
delivering it. And the rumors are right: the pop princess
brought a rough cut of her new single, "Mona Lisa,"
to top LA radio station KIIS FM and played it on the
air. Britney's planning on releasing her new album,
tentatively titled, "The Original Doll," this
spring, and she even tipped off fans about her New Year's
plans before leaving, telling listeners she was going
to Disneyland.
From music to TV, where the most watched series of 2004,
"American idol" is rumored
to be returning with an extreme makeover. And, yes,
changes are in the wind: producers are increasing the
age limit by four years -- up to 28 -- and turning the
semi-finals into guys versus girls, as well as dropping
the celeb judges from the final 12 episodes. But don't
worry, guest artists, including LL Cool J, Gene Simmons,
and our own Mark McGrath, will weigh in with their opinions
during the audition rounds.
Finally, "Nip/Tuck" star Julian McMahon
will don a tux at the Golden Globes for his role on
the FX series, but the word is the sex-addicted doctor
may be ready to slip into super spy James Bond's shoes.
According to sources, Julian is being considered to
take over the role, and even has a "bond"
with the series, saying, "Going to see Bond was
like seeing 'Star Wars,' you'd go see it six to ten
times."
