Montel Williams
Tuesday
August 7, 2001
He is a man who has moved mountains out of his way. Montel Williams: talk show host/author/marine bodybuilder has lived his life at full throttle. He says, “One hour of dedication, can change your life.”
|
But he had a mountain dropped on him - when he was diagnosed with MS, multiple sclerosis. He says, “It was kind of like a living hell.”
Montel told us that he found out about his disease while he was guest starring in an episode of "Touched by An Angel." He says, “I knew what I was feeling and for damn sure knew I did not want to feel that way, every day for the rest of my life.”
With his disease now under control, doctors told Montel to minimize the stress in his life not exactly the Montel way. He says, “I have nothing to prove. I will tell you this clear, straight up, anybody that thinks that I do this because I want to prove something to someone else or to myself is wrong. I just want to live.”
Montel’s first step was to kick it up a notch with his
workouts. His results were so remarkable, he CO-wrote
a book called “Body Change” with his personal trainer
Wini Linguvic.
Referring to the book, he says, “This is almost like having a personal trainer in a book that will kick your butt and make you understand that this is not some overwhelming unachievable thing.”
In true Montel style, the book addresses head on the toughest part about getting fit. The equipment is fairly simple, but nobody is saying it's easy. So, whatever your excuse is for not exercising, we bet its not as good as ‘I’m 45, a single dad and have MS.’
You just might want to take a page from Montel Williams book. Montel says, “You can go through life thinking to yourself, ‘oh woe is me,’ or I can get up in the morning and say, damn, what can I mess with today!”
