WALKVEST® workout:
- Put
on your vest, loaded with the right amount of weight
for you (beginners start with 2#), go out side or
get on your treadmill and walk for 5 minutes easily
to warm up.
- NOW,
pick up your pace, enough so that your breathing gets
deeper and you feel your body heating up. Walk this
pace for 10 minutes. -anyone at any level can do this,
you adjust the weights and your pace according to
your level of fitness-
- NOW,
after 10 minutes, begin to swing your arms and if
you have 4# or more, take 2 weights out of the pockets
as you walk, hold then in your hands and swing your
arms for increased cardiovascular activity, greater
caloric expenditure and upper body toning. Keep this
up for 5 minutes more.
- NOW,
drop the weights back into your vest, keep walking
steadily and slow down for 1 minute, this is RECOVERY
training and we do it so that we learn how to "stay
on the road" and "recover on the road"
- NOW,
pick up your pace again, lengthen your stride so that
your step is longer and walk smoothly with long strides
for 5 minutes.
- Great,
NOW shorten your step and pick up the pace one more
time and walk quickly for 5 more minute -always keep
your abs pulled in tightly and stand tall as you walk
so that you walk lightly, step softly-
- Good,
NOW cool down, walk easily for a few minutes, final
recovery.
