Diane Sawyer's Diet
Thursday
June 14, 2001
It's
a miracle Diane Sawyer makes it through her day
at all. The Good Morning America anchor gets up
at 3am.
You can never figure out what time it is,
Sawyers says. So you think wait, it must
be dinner again."
|
You
may not be able to tell on the TV, but the early mornings
and those high-calorie cooking segments have taken a toll
on the 5’9” news vet's body. Sawyer says, “I weighed 155
pounds--close to 160."
|
“ |
From
now on your situation will not be out of control.
As many friends and clients will tell you, I do
not readily accept defeat. Nor will you.

From the book "The Business Plan for the Body" |
So
Sawyer made a pledge to herself and millions of viewers.
With the help of weight-loss expert Jim Karas, Sawyer
did even better than she promised. She's shed more than
20 pounds in just 3 months! So how'd he whip this morning
maven into tip-top shape?
Karas advises, “Toss out your treadmill. Just throw it
out!”
Well not entirely. Karas explains his basic philosophy
in his new book "The Business Plan for the Body." Karas
says, “You establish a mission statement, what is your
goal. You make realistic projections.”
Sawyer did just that. She started by of course cutting
back food intake and counting calories. But most importantly
she followed Karas’program: focusing more on resistance
training and devoting less to traditional cardio.
Karas says, “If you build muscle and increase strength,
you're going to build up your body and boost your metabolism
24 hours a day.”
Sawyer says, “I lost three inches on my arms in just a
few months.”
And you can too but you have to make your body your business.
Sawyer says, "You show up for meetings when it has to
do with work, why don’t you show up for the other part
of your job?”
If she can fit fitness into her job which starts before
dawn, surely you can too!
