1.) In today's society, women play prominent roles
in business, politics, education, sports, entertainment, and the arts.
What are the two primary contributions pageants make for today's women?
|
|
Pageants provide women with a forum in which they can
achieve their goals. First, it aids in individual development, and second,
it increases social skills and recognition. Individual development is
gained through the preparation and participation in the competition. Likewise,
social skills and public speaking are improved as a result of media interaction,
the responsibility of being a titleholder and the responsibilities as
a titleholder.
|
|
2.) What is the single, most important message a titleholder
can convey?
|
|
The message I would hope to spread is that the only true
boundaries an individual has are the boundaries one puts on oneself. Real
success is measured within, so the bigger you dream, the harder you'll
work and the more you'll achieve.
|
|
3.) Are you currently attending school or involved
in any educational studies? If so, what are you studying? Where? What
are your eventual goals?
|
|
I am currently attending Oklahoma City University as a
double major in Theater and Political Science. I plan on pursuing both
fields past the collegiate level. I plan to first fulfill my dream to
become a professional actress, and then set my sights on becoming the
first female Governor of Oklahoma.
|
|
4.) Are you currently employed? If so, what is your
occupation?
|
|
Yes. I am a beauty consultant at Victoria's Secret and
a waitress at Joe's Crab Shack.
|
|
5.) Name one personal accomplishment (in addition to
being a state titleholder) that makes you especially proud.
|
|
Being independent and following through with my decisions
and commitments. I am twenty years old, a full time student and an active
member of several organizations. I have my own apartment, two jobs and,
through the grace and good will of God, I have conquered my schedule and
look forward to each new day.
|
|
6.) What have you learned about yourself during the
past year?
|
| I have learned that perseverance and commitment
are everything. I love to be challenged and I've realized that no obstacle
is too big. I can shape my own future by really tackling life and facing
my fears. I just have to take one day at a time and value every experience
as a learning one. |
| 7.)What is the most daring or adventurous
thing you have done? |
| The most fearless thing I've ever done was to
become an actress. |
| 8.) Describe what you think the role of women
will be in the 21st century. |
| Women are going to be movers and shakers. Women
are going to boldly tread new ground in the world of politics, social order
and business. We are going to emerge as great leaders and motivators, but
most importantly we're going to build up even greater stability on the home
front as we continue to nurture and foster wonderful families. |
| 9) What charity/charities have you supported
with your time and/or resources in the past? |
| My newest endeavor has been in support of the
kindness movement that is sweeping the nation. I believe that if we all
do more than our share, and use our talents to benefit others, that this
world will be a better place. I recently completed my first marathon on
behalf of the Leukemia Society, and I'm a member of an organization called
Teaching Tolerance. |
| 10.) What expression/slogan/motto best describes
your view of life? |
| To pursue your dreams with every bit of passion
that is in your heart, to appreciate the blessings in life, to recognize
the simple truths, to kiss negativity good-bye, and to love the dawning
of each new day. |
| 11.) What is your most treasured possession?
|
| On my initiation into Alpha Phi, my parents
wrote me the most beautiful, touching and meaningful letter in which they
expressed their unconditional love for me and their overpowering pride in
who I am. |
