1.) In today's society, women play prominent roles in business, politics, education, sports, entertainment, and the arts. What are the two primary contributions pageants make for today's women?
Pageants provide many contributions to women. However, there are two primary contributions I feel they provide. First, they offer the opportunity to make childhood dreams come true. After all, "Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but rather, the moment that takes our breath away." Secondly, pageants prove that through patience, persistence and self-discipline, one can achieve anything they set their mind to.
2.) What is the single, most important message a titleholder can convey?
No matter who you are, where you are and what you are doing, a titleholder is always a role model for today's children. Consequently, the most important message a titleholder can convey is the importance of setting high goals for yourself. After all, "as long as you shoot for the moon, even if you miss, you'll always land among the stars."
3.) Are you currently attending school or involved in any educational studies? If so, what are you studying? Where? What are your eventual goals?
As a college graduate and owner of my own business, I am currently not attending school and do not have current plans to further my education.
4.) Are you currently employed? If so, what is your occupation?
Yes. I am the owner of a wedding consulting company, Memory Makers Inc., and the manager of a bridal salon, Evening Extraordinaire.
5.) Name one personal accomplishment (in addition to being a state titleholder) that makes you especially proud.
I am especially proud of my entrepreneurial spirit. Following graduation I started my own wedding consulting business. Today my business is thriving with more than ten weddings already booked for the upcoming season.
6.) What have you learned about yourself during the past year?
As a result of winning Miss Kansas USA and successfully starting my own business, I have learned that "patience and persistence are the crowning qualities of a self-confident champion."
7.)What is the most daring or adventurous thing you have done?
Currently, the most adventurous task I am involved in is my own business. However, the most daring thing I have ever done is rock climbing and repelling.
8.) Describe what you think the role of women will be in the 21st century.
The role of women is constantly changing in society. As the new millennium moves forward, women are becoming stronger, more successful, and more driven than ever before. Opportunities seem to be never ending for the women of the new millennium.
9) What charity/charities have you supported with your time and/or resources in the past?
American Cancer Society, Youthfriends, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Toys for Tots, Habitat for Humanity, and Adopt a Family.
10.) What expression/slogan/motto best describes your view of life?
"Life is not measured in the breath we take, but rather in the moments that take our breath away."
11.) What is your most treasured possession?
My birth certificate at one time had a mother's name I did not recognize. In 5th grade I was legally adopted by the mother I've known and loved. Her name is now on my birth certificate, and this is my most treasured possession.
