1.) In today's society, women play prominent roles in business, politics, education, sports, entertainment, and the arts. What are the two primary contributions pageants make for today's women?
Pageants strengthen the leadership skills necessary to become a highly successful individual in today's society. In addition, pageants grant a young woman the opportunity to achieve her full potential and to reach thousands of people with her knowledge and sincerity.
2.) What is the single, most important message a titleholder can convey?
Each and every one of us has the power to change the world. It's a matter of identifying our strengths and finding the courage to take a stand for what we believe in.
3.) Are you currently attending school or involved in any educational studies? If so, what are you studying? Where? What are your eventual goals?
I am a junior at Arizona State University pursuing a B.S. degree in theater with a minor in psychology. I plan to continue acting and eventually gain power behind the camera directing motion pictures.
4.) Are you currently employed? If so, what is your occupation?
Yes, as an actress and model with the Leighton Agency.
5.) Name one personal accomplishment (in addition to being a state titleholder) that makes you especially proud.
I created and published the book Ready, Set, Go for Your Goals. It's my tool to promote the values I grew up with to counteract the violence plaguing schools across the nation.
6.) What have you learned about yourself during the past year?
In the past year I've grown mentally, emotionally and spiritually. As a leader in my community, I was inspired to create a motivational book for children. I've learned the impact my written and verbal communication has on society.
7.)What is the most daring or adventurous thing you have done?
I delivered a motivational speech to adolescents in a juvenille detention facility not knowing how they would react to the message I spoke about.
8.) Describe what you think the role of women will be in the 21st century.
Women will continue building on the accomplishments of our predecessors. In the new millennium, we're already seeing women take the reigns and becoming leaders in each aspect of society, be it family life, career, politics, or education.
9) What charity/charities have you supported with your time and/or resources in the past?
I've written a book on ethnic diversity and started a mentoring program. I also work with several food banks and as a spokesperson for the Cancer Society, the Susan G. Komen Foundation and Chicanos Por La Causa.
10.) What expression/slogan/motto best describes your view of life?
Making mistakes is where the true perfection lies.
11.) What is your most treasured possession?
I have a crocheted cross my great grandmother made for me that is a reminder of the morals and convictions she instilled in me.
