A ripped rock star with attitude, living life in the fast lane; who better to play the lead role in the new movie "Rock Star" than Mark Wahlberg?
|
For the former rapper who rose from the streets of Boston with his bad attitude and buff bod, it's back to his musical roots. But while he doesn't miss his days as Marky Mark, he does miss the frantic fans. He says, “I do because I feed off the crowd's energy. But I’m better off where I am. Living that lifestyle takes its toll.”
Alongside Wahlberg in "Rock Star" is Friends star Jennifer Aniston as his love interest.
Wahlberg plays a young wannabe who gets to be a rock star only to learn fame can be a dangerous drug. Wahlberg says that's something he didn't have to learn the hard way.
“I was around a lot of people who became very famous very quickly and saw what it did to them. I learned from their mistakes.”
The film's title song is by the band Everclear, but lead singer Art Alexakis says he didn't have to give Wahlberg any tips about being a rocker. “I think he's lived a much more rock star life than I have.”
But these days with the success of his summer blockbuster "Planet of the Apes," Wahlberg is living more like a movie star. A title the actor admits he's still not comfortable with.
“I like my privacy, but I also like to work. But I am very much a regular guy and like to be treated as one.”
