Men of NASCAR
Friday
July 27, 2001
They
are the men that rev their engines and make women's
hearts race!
With hunky speed demons like Jeff
Gordon, Steve Park, Dale Earnhardt Jr.
and Elliott Sadler behind the wheel, it's no wonder
40 percent of new NASCAR fans are women. That
is helping make auto racing the fastest growing
sport in America.
|
And
in the lead of this hotrod and bod pack is 33-year-old
Steve
Park. He's neck in neck with Ben Affleck and Benicio
Del Toro as one of People magazine's top 50 bachelors.
He says, “It's flattering because I got involved in the sport because I love racing. These are things that are above and beyond what I ever expected.”
Like the time one fanatic female wanted to make a lasting impression: showing Steve a tattoo of his autograph!
He says, “That's amazing that someone would permanently mark their body with their favorite drivers autograph. It's just beyond my wildest imagination.”
Twenty-six year-old Dale
Earnhardt Jr., winner of July’s Pepsi 400, is
also getting the rock star treatment. He says, “Girls
like us to autograph their shorts or underwear, breasts,
things like that. It gets kind of crazy.”
But just because these NASCAR hotties are driving fans
into the stands, 26-year-old Elliot
Sadler explains that doesn't guarantee they'll
get to the finish line with all women.
He says, “I tried meeting Britney Spears at the Pepsi 400. I didn't have that much clout.”
Well you can't win them all.
