On The Red Carpet For
"Planet Of The Apes"
Tuesday
July 23, 2001
Planet
of the Apes is the ultimate man against
monkey story. Last night it was the monkeys out
of costume and out of character on the streets
of New York and going bananas with stories about
just how tough the re-make of the classic '60's
film was to make.

Mark
Wahlberg plays an astronaut who falls into the hands of
apes in a strange land and take on evil primates the likes
of Tim Roth and big man, Michael Clark Duncan. Mark says,
"It's probably the roughest film I've ever done.
I was getting beat up by this guy (referring to Tim Roth)
and Michael Clark, who's almost as big as Shaq."
Shaq attacked the premiere too, as did P. Diddy
P. Diddy says, To be honest, I don't have a ticket,
I'm really crashing."
But it's the film's stars like Tim Roth who gave us a
crash course on just how tough it was on the set, especially
with the hours upon hours of makeup. He says, It's
depressing, the makeup drove you crazy, and you wanted
to slash your wrists sometimes."
Helena Bonham Carter, who plays an ape in the new film,
plays a different role in the new issue of Maxim
Magazine.
Helena says, "I did that cause I spent the last 6
months being an ape."
Extra asked if she would ever take it any
further?
Helena says, Completely nude? No, no way, no no
no."
Carter's co-stars weren't monkeying around about their
reaction.
Mark says, "I was very surprised. She looks great,
fantastic!"
Now that's something to go ape over. |
