Monday
July 23, 2001
Kevin
Bacon and older brother Michael released their
first "Bacon Brothers" folk rock album
four years ago and ever since, their rock jams
have been jammed. Now they've got a new CD and
they're about to take their act on the road.

Kevin
says, I think that playing music in front of people
is probably the most naked you can feel as a performer.
But how does Michael feel about sharing the stage with
his famous little brother?
Michael says, I'm kind of used to it. My attitude
is, you take your movie star fans, and turn them into
music fans.
Matrix star Keanu Reeves proves his musical chops with
his band Gogstar. Muscled Gladiator Russell
Crowe shows his musical might with his band Thirty
Odd Foot of Grunt. Even Crowe's one time love
rival Dennis Quaid's gotten into the "Rock Star"
act with his band The Sharks.
But would Kevin, Keanu, Crowe, or Quaid ever have a
chance as Rock Stars if they weren't movie
stars first? Extra asked Tamar Conniff of
The Hollywood Reporter." She says, The
name certainly draws people in, but in order for these
bands to keep their fans, they have to be musically
viable.
Kevin's more than a rocker, he's also a writer! On movie
set breaks, Kevin the actor turns into Kevin the songwriter.
He wrote ten songs on the new CD and says his wife,
actress Kyra Sedgewick is a very patient fan while he
works out his new tunes. He adds, My wife said
to me the other day, do you have to sing them over and
over and over? Why do you sing them so much?
The answer's simple and you can find it in the fans.
