Belinda
Carlisle and the Go-Go's Thursday
July 19, 2001
The
leader of the Go-Gos is all grown up! At
42 Belinda Carlisle is fabulous and baring all
in the current issue of playboy. Just in time
for the Go-Go's first new album in 17 years and
a world tour to go with it.
Go-Go
Charlotte Caffey isn't exaggerating, the publicity certainly
isn't hurting the Go Go's. She says, People are
showing up in the audience holding up playboys.
But Carlisle says that's not why she did it. She says,
I felt when I was asked this time around that
it could be a positive message for women that you don't
have to be 20 and a size zero to be viable sexually
and as a woman.
Belinda's bandmates are also proud to be in their forties
and back better than ever.
Bassist Gina Schock says, We are wiser and more
experienced and we take a lot better care of ourselves.
So why did this all-girl, platinum selling band break
up in 1985?
Gina says, we were in each other's faces all the time.
Eventually you're gonna be sick of each other.
These days, spending months at a time on the road is
a whole new challenge.
Belinda says, I can speak for charlotte and myself,
probably being away from our kids will be the hardest.
Gina says, Me too, being away from my doggies
who are my kids.
