America's Missing
Thursday
July 12, 2001
While that 24-year-old intern from Modesto, California may be the most high profile missing person, she is of course not the only one. It's hard to believe but there are almost 100,000 people missing in this country right now.

Amy
Bradley. Molly Bish. Moriah Lassard. Their faces aren't
as familiar as Chandra’s, but each of these young girls
has also vanished leaving behind families desperate
for answers.
Becky Lassard's 27-year-old daughter Moriah is also
from Modesto, California. She was last seen leaving
her home a month ago. Investigating officer Christy
Beffa says so far there are no suspects. She says, “I
try to give them hope. Basically they need hope.”
Magi Bish's hope hasn't run out. After a torturous year
her 16-year-old daughter Molly
disappeared from a secluded Massachusetts pond where
she was a lifeguard. Magi says, “You can lose your keys
you can lose glasses, but how do you lose your child?”
And 23-year-old Amy
Bradley was last seen by her father on the balcony
of a cruise ship five months ago. In the absence of
facts, Amy's mother Iva searches for an explanation.
“I believe somebody saw her and wanted her. And took
her off of that ship.”
Heartbreaking stories that warrant coverage says Anne
O'Neil of People magazine, which included some of these
lesser-known cases in this week's cover story.
She says, “I think if people see these stories and know
something, hear something, it may be an opportunity
to help these families out.”
A reminder that somebody somewhere knows something and
even one seemingly insignificant clue could bring a
young woman home to her worried family.
If you have any info about Moriah Lassard, please call
the Modesto police department, 209-572-9532 or 209-572-9500.
