Becoming a Star
Tuesday
July 10, 2001
Destiny Child's digs. The Backstreet Boys fans. Or Jennifer Lopez’s jewels.
"Becoming" is the new show from MTV where real kids get to become their favorite rock stars. Dress like them, live like them, and even star in their own big budget music video.
|
MTV’s Fernando Hernandez says this show is a fan fantasy come true. “We find the biggest fan of a particular artist that we can find and we surprise them. They are whisked away by limo and they spend 48 hours becoming that artist.
Twin sisters Jasmine and Bianca are working on “becoming" Jennifer Lopez to recreate her "Love Don’t Cost A Thing" video.
They get to stay in Jennifer’s favorite L.A. hotel, complete with rock star perks and pampering. When the transformation complete, they recreate the video.
Fernando says, “We really try to find those details that make it special and make it very real.”
Details like 200 screaming girls brought in for these Backstreet wannabes or the clothing and choreography that turned three girls into Destiny's Child for a day.
Lots of fun for the MTV audience and the rock star fanatics who tomorrow will have to return to real life.
