Turning 39, Tom Cruise turned his birthday bash into a celebration of his new life as a bachelor. From Jim Carrey, Ben Stiller, Rob Lowe, Rene Zelwegger and Cuba Gooding, Jr., Hollywood's A-list turned out Friday night at L.A.'s red-hot Buffalo Club.

It wasn’t just the shaved head that stunned Tom's friends; it was his guest of honor Spanish sexpot Penelope Cruz.

Celebrity journalist Jeanne Wolfe says Penelope was not Tom's birthday date. She says, "People who were there say they didn’t come together, didn’t leave together."

It may look like Tom is using Cuba Gooding Jr.'s barber, but Cruise is bald only for a part in his latest movie "Minority Report." That other suddenly single star Jim Carrey also left early. Insiders said the superstar’s departure came after he spotted ex-girlfriend Renee Zellweger.

Cruise is also getting his feet wet as a single. From a charity fundraiser's "Dunk The Hunk" booth to flying solo at the MTV Movie Awards, but this weekend's birthday party was his most boisterous single night yet.

Wolfe says, "He's been through a tough time and celebrating at this party was probably something he needed at this stage of his life."
