Madonna Rules Europe
Friday
July 6, 2001
First
she took Barcelona. Now Madonna rules in London.
The material girl, looking more like militant
schoolgirl, took her world tour to the U.K. this
week, spending the fourth of July thrilling fans
on her first tour in eight years.

It's actually something of a homecoming for the pop queen, who over the last three years has been gradually making a home for herself across the pond. There's the mansion in London’s exclusive Notting Hill. There are also reports the material mom has been scoping out schools. And of course, there's the guy who won her heart, British director Guy Ritchie. She's even got the accent down.
Vibe magazine's O.J. Lima says no matter the continent, at 42 Madonna is as in vogue as ever. The "Drowned" tour sold out as early as April and tickets have been scalped for as much as $1,000 a piece!
O.J. says, “It's probably easier to get a golden ticket to Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory than to Madonna’s show.”
And it seems some fans will do anything to justify their love for Madonna. One German website even held a contest: sleep with a staff member and win a ticket!
Lima says this girlie show's full of surprises. “Two hundred people on stage, a mechanical bull, and I hear most of the songs she performs are new.”
With a show that hot, guess you could call this the summer of Madonna Mania.
