Theme
Party Ideas From Jackson Catering
When
it comes to planning and throwing a theme party,
try not to rack your brain. The ideas for your theme
are easy to conjure up. Whether you are throwing
a poker party, baby shower or 70's throw back party,
it is simple to create and execute a party that’s
memorable.
Begin by jotting down a list of things that relate
to the event. For a baby-shower you might write
down: baby bottle, rattle, the baby's name or even
"the mother's belly." What you do with this list
is up to your imagination. For instance, buy baby
bottles and cut the top of the nipple off. Fill
with your favorite margarita and insert a straw.
You can also make napkin rings out of baby rattles
or simply go to a local bakery for butter cookies
and with icing write the baby's name. Or to be far
out, you can hire a belly dancer to bless the mother's
belly. Your party doesn't have to be so traditional,
let it be a little quirky. What your party must
be is fun for you and your guests.
Remember that you don't have to prepare every meal
that you serve or make every decoration in your
home. The reason that we entertain and throw parties
is so that we can get together in a collective harmony.
A theme helps to harmonize a crowd. If you can do
simple things like spike a bag of your favorite
potato chips with melted butter, fresh garlic and
parsley, then entertaining bliss isn't so hard.
Or have your favorite baker make a cake to your
specifications.
When we throw a theme event, whether it is a small
party or a large movie premier, we feel a heightened
sense of fun. We have done many different themes,
some as far fetched as what we called a "travelers
theme," where the food had to be an eclectic mix
of what an "American" traveler would eat through-out
the States. We made the worlds smallest corn dogs
on a stick; single bight tacos and hand made pretzels
with yellow mustard. We have even done food from
another world. What would food from the lost city
of Atlantis be like? We had to figure that out.
Whatever the theme, always keep it a little "tongue
and cheek." Make it fun and most important have
fun yourself. We do. |
