Oscars Fashions

From twenties flappers, to Old World elegance, old Hollywood glamour reigned on the red carpet. Most fashion experts agree, the red carpet is a runway to the world of future trends that you will see in upcoming magazines and at your favorite department store.

So what were some of the most memorable fashion victims of Oscar, 2001? Of course there was that stork on Bjork and you can always count on Jennifer Lopez for a peep show. Halle Berry was very revealing in Badgley Mishka and Sarah Jessica Parker brought the crowd to its knees in a black micro mini.

All eyes seemed to focus on this years "it" girl, Julia Roberts who traded the signature "Erin Brockovich Wonderbra" for an elegant 15 year old gown.

"Women's Wear Daily" fashion editor Merle Ginsburg, who was at the scene on the red carpet says, "The best dress woman at the Oscars hands down was Julia Roberts. She went on a limb and found a really special dress."

Julia was dynamite but there were duds. Merle says, "I didn't really like the way Kate Hudson looked. It was almost too severe a fashion and not Oscar enough."

So what about the guys night out? It seams the leading men were all dashing in the designs of one man … Giorgio Armani.

Many sported the standard tux, but Russell Crowe's tails touched his knees and Samuel L. Jackson was "shaft"-ing clear down to the floor. When it came to ties, bows got beat.

One thing that never goes out of fashion is Oscar himself.
