EXTRA Profile: Kate Hudson

Until just a few months ago she was "almost famous" for being Goldie Hawn's daughter. But now, with Golden globe in hand, "Almost Famous" star Kate Hudson is totally famous!

It was her break out role as rock groupie Penny Lane in Cameron Crowe's "Almost Famous" that got this golden girl noticed and is now creating loads of Oscar buzz.

Goldie and partner Kurt Russell at first wanted Kate to go to New York University. But Kate convinced them to give her one year to try acting. It paid off. Her first part was in 1996, a small role on "Party of Five." Next came roles in "Desert Blue" and "200 cigarettes," her comedic timing had just a touch of Goldie.

Last new years eve Kate married her sweetheart, Black Crowes lead singer Chris Robinson. Kate says, "Married life is more then I ever though it would be. It's unbelievable."

Beautiful, young, and in love -- these days Kate Hudson's life is as good as gold.
