Bellagio
Fountain
It's
a water extravaganza as shining streams of H20 soar
through the Las Vegas sky. Here at Bellagio they have
over a thousand fountains performing water ballet more
than 30 times a day. Some of these water canons can
shoot 240 feet up into the air. Today we're going to
show you how this work of art works.
In addition to the 1,198 fountains, it takes more than
4,000 lights and 22,000 gallons of water to get these
drops to dance. How'd they do that?
First, the music is selected and then it's brought to
a computer called "virtual wet." Today the music entered
is "Signing in the Rain." A choreographer then orchestrates
the performance and a technician assembles the program
by syncing the movements to the high-powered water cannons
also controlled by the computer.
There's the oarsman, which dispenses 140 gallons of
water per minute, sending it up to 77 feet. The mini-shooter
bolts the liquid up to 120 feet. And the grand daddy
of them all, the super shooter which bursts the water
245 feet into the sky.
When all comes together audiences are treated to a spectacular
performance to many of the world's greatest songs.
