Viggo Mortensen
He has been naked with Gwyneth Paltrow, locked lips with Diane Lane, and forced Demi Moore to get down in the dirt. Hollywood heartthrob Viggo Mortensen is one lucky guy, and he is also pretty hot.
Vanity Fair writer Alex Kuczyinski spent three days with next month's cover boy and current "Lord of the Rings" trilogy star. She says that Mortensen is one Hollywood superstar who could care less about stardom.
Kuczyinski says "He looks great. I mean he's 45. He has great genes; he must nap a lot because he looks very young. He arrives without an entourage. He doesn’t have a cell phone, and he doesn’t have an assistant."
One thing he does have, however, is talent. Mortensen is a painter, a poet, a musician, a photographer, and even a comedian. Kuczyinski says, "He is very funny when you get him going. He actually laughs."
But his acting is no laughing matter. Diane Lane gave up half of her salary to costar with Mortensen in "A Walk on the Moon." Kuczyinski says, "She said, ‘Please give him part of my salary. I’ve got to have this guy.’"
The same thing happened with "Lord of the Rings" director Peter Jackson, who offered the role of Aragorn to Mortensen over the phone. Of course, Mortensen needed the thumbs up from his 11-year-old son.
Kuczyinski says, "He said to his son, ‘Is this a good character, should I play him?’ And his son said, 'Dad, you’ve got to do it.' And he was on the plane the next day."
So what’s up next for the star? It is Disney's $90 million epic "Hidalgo," where Mortensen fell so in love with his equine costar that he bought the horse that he rode in the film.
And you can buy Mortensen the cover boy in next month's "Vanity Fair."
