Diet Trends
Slim, trim, and thin - three magic words casting their spell on Hollywood’s waistline. Now Us magazine's Veronica Hinman weighs-in on Hollywood’s hottest diets.
Hinman says, "Macrobiotic diet. Super, super hot."
In vogue with stars like Madonna and Gwyneth Paltrow, macrobiotics, which means "healthy life," is a lean eating strategy. Hinman says, "It consists of fish, vegetables, and everything is organic. No saturated fats, no processed foods."
Alicia Silverstone says, "I'm a Vegan and when I became a Vegan, I never had to think about anything I ate ever again."
And 15-year-vegan Linda Blair says the Vegan lifestyle keeps her health from spinning out of control. She says, "In order to keep the antibiotics, the growth hormones, and mad cow out of your body, this was the only way."
Hinman continues, "Then you have your raw food diet. It's probably the hottest diet in Hollywood right now."
It's like the Vegan diet, no meat or dairy, but we're not talking about eaten cut carrots and celery sticks. Hinman says, "Everything is prepared to seem like something else. For instance, the chef will prepare all these vegetables and seeds and all of a sudden you'll have something that looks like lasagna."
Raw food fans like Demi Moore, Woody Harrelson, and Red Hot Chili Pepper's frontman Anthony Keidis actually employ pricey private chefs to cook these complicated dishes.
But the number one diet still toning Tinseltown is The Zone. From "Friends" stars Jennifer Aniston and Lisa Kudrow to Sandra Bullock and Matthew McConoughey. Even the pope is in The Zone, which is a diet high on protein and low on carbs. Hinman says, "It's a very easy diet to maintain. That's why Hollywood adores this diet."
But to have the body of a superstar, whatever the diet, all these celebs will tell you they balance it with a heaping helping of exercise.
