Holiday Movie Picks
Get out the eggnog, it’s time to taste this year's holiday movie picks with those cinema Santa’s Ebert and Roeper dishing out what's naughty and nice at Hollywood’s Renaissance Hotel.
There will be plenty of second servings for franchise fans this holiday season. Ebert says, "We already have James Bond. We've already had Harry Potter. Now we have ‘Lord of the Rings.’"
Also in the stocking are "The Santa Clause 2," "Analyze That," and "Star Trek: Nemesis."
From space to the streets, "Gangs of New York" stars "Titanic" titan Leonardo DiCaprio, who is also in Spielberg’s Christmas blockbuster, "Catch Me If You Can" alongside Tom Hanks.
From the Big Apple to the city of big shoulders and big star power: Catherine Zeta-Jones, Renee Zellweger, and Richard Gere. Roeper says, "’Chicago’ the musical, which is more highly anticipated than anything. Everybody's talking about that. Richard Gere in a musical? Who knew? But it's supposed to be great."
So is Jack Nicholson's performance in "About Schmidt." Ebert says, "Everyone expects Jack Nicholson to be nominated."
'Tis the season to talk about Oscar. Ebert says, "From the ones out there right now, I would say ‘Far From Heaven’ maybe."
The movie stars Julianne Moore and Dennis Quaid as a 1950's married man who is gay. Roper says, "Yeah ,that might be the best definitely one of the best movies of the year. Just in terms of what I am looking forward to the most, probably the Scorcese picture ‘Gangs of New York.’"
And it looks like two thumbs are still up for the summer sleeper "My Big Fat Greek Wedding."
Seems like a good time to say the balcony is now closed.
