Golden Globe Nominations

The Golden Globe nominations were announced Thursday morning. For Best Motion Picture Drama, "About Schmidt," "Gangs of New York," "The Hours," "The Two Towers," and "The Pianist" were all nominated.

"The Pianist’s" Adrian Brody is among those nominated for Best Actor list. He is up Daniel Day Lewis for "Gangs of New York," "Michael Caine" for "The Quiet American," Jack Nicholson for "About Schmidt," and Leonard DiCaprio for "Catch Me If You Can."

The day’s biggest Golden Globe winner was "Chicago." The musical got eight nominations, more than any other film this year. Other big winners include "Adaptation" with six nominations, and this year's sleeper hit, "My Big Fat Greek Wedding," nominated for Best Musical or Comedy.

Among the ladies, Salma Hayek got a nod for "Frida," Nicole Kidman and Meryl Streep for "The Hours," Julianne Moore for "Far From Heaven," and Diane Lane for her intense role in "unfaithful."

On the television side, there's a spy and a cop, a boss and his wife, sex, death, and a few good Friends. It was 5:00 AM when the nominees were announced for the television Golden Globes.

"Six Feet Under" received a nod for Best Drama Series. It goes up "24," "The Sopranos," "The West Wing" and "The Shield."

Only "Extra" was on the set as star Michael Chiklis learned of his nomination for Best Actor in a Drama. He says, "I’m thrilled about my nomination, but that we got the show nominated makes me so psyched."

On the comedy side, "Will & Grace" grabbed five nods while their Thursday night neighbors "Friends" got three. Jennifer Aniston battles Debra Messing and Matt Leblanc faces Eric McCormack and Bernie Mac.

You'd think a nod for Tony Shaloub in his rookie season of "Monk" would mean some love for dad from his teenaged daughter. He says, "Her reaction was, ‘Am I gonna get to meet them?’"
