'Gangs of New York' Premiere
An angel, a legend, and a leading man were on top of the world Tuesday night for the Los Angeles premiere of "Gangs of New York."
This was Martin Scorcese's first time directing Leonardo DiCaprio. But he told "Extra" that he has been watching the actor since he got a hot tip from a famous friend. Scorcese says, "Robert De Niro told me to keep an eye on him when he did 'This Boy's Life.’ I took it seriously and it paid off."
You can ask any actor and they will tell you working in a Martin Scorcese movie is a Hollywood dream come true. Cameron Diaz says, "Look at him. He's amazing. He's an amazing filmmaker."
Cameron is in awe of him and Jennifer Tilly told "Extra" that she would do just about anything to work with the legendary director of classics like "Taxi Driver" and "Goodfellas." She says, "I'd be willing to sell my house."
On a night when everyone came to see a movie about violent New York gangs, there was nothing but love in the Los Angeles air.
