Richard Gere

Murder, scandal, and Richard Gere doing a little soft shoe. It's Gere like you've never seen him before, co-starring with Catherine Zeta-Jones and Reneé Zellweger in the sizzling new big screen adaptation of the musical "Chicago."

Reneé says wait until you see Gere go. She says, "He's going to surprise people and it is beautiful."

But it's not that big a surprise if you rewind to the days before Gere's movie stardom. He says, "’Grease’ was the successful one. There were some other ones that weren't which no one can remember."

But he had to remember some of those old theater dance moves during the rigorous rehearsals for "Chicago." He says, "I think I was channeling Gregory Hines and Honi Coles somehow. I did ‘Cotton Club’ and the best dancers in the world were in that ... I had a lot of help. I had a great teacher. They shot it really well, but it was hard work."

Off screen, Gere is hard at work as a family man, marrying longtime love Carey Lowell last month, the mother of his two-year-old son Homer. He says, "All the clichés are true, but you have to multiply them by a thousand."

According to the early buzz, audiences will be delighted to see Gere singing and dancing and all that jazz in "Chicago."
