'About Schmidt'
Meet the latest incarnation of Hollywood’s man of a thousand faces. That human chameleon of movies like "The Shining," "Wolf," "The Witches of Eastwick," and "Batman" is now assuming yet another surprising identity in "About Schmidt," a new movie that's made the great Jack Nicholson an Oscar favorite among co-stars and critics before it even hits the big screen.
Kathy Bates says, "Jack's performance is just absolutely stellar, and I think people should go and see it for that alone."
In this dark comedy, the legendary actor stars as a retired insurance salesman who begins to realize just what a miserable old man he's become after his wife of 42-years suddenly dies.
In one controversial scene, this portly Jack with a bad comb-over finds himself in a hot tub with a naked Kathy Bates. She says, "It took a little bit of [guts] to do it, but I thought it was really right for the character."
And, surprisingly, Jack admits in a rare interview with Jeffrey Jiles in the current Newsweek that his own notorious sex life has slowed considerably now he's in his sixties. Jiles says, "But even if he's having only half as much sex as he used to, that's still probably 10 times more than any one else has because he's still Jack Nicholson."
Jack is still a larger-than-life superstar on screen and off.
