'Gangs of New York'
Leonardo DiCaprio, Cameron Diaz, Daniel Day Lewis, and Martin Scorcese were all there for the world premiere of "Gangs of New York." Even Nicole Kidman and "Moulin Rouge" director Baz Luhrman braved the bitter cold to catch one of the year's hottest movies along with stars like David Bowie and wife Iman.
The film took over 30 years to finally get to the big screen. Things got so drawn out that director Martin Scorcese figured this day might never happen. He said, "I can't even quite believe it's here tonight."
Scorcese's three-hour opus is set in the mid 1800’s when New York's immigrant melting pot boiled over into the bloodiest street battles in American history.
Everybody was getting into the street fighting mood, including the guys of U2 who composed some of the music for "Gangs." Bono said, "We're just happy to be part of something so ambitious."
