'Gangs of New York'
With its sex, violence, and vengeance, Martin Scorcese’s much-hyped "Gangs of New York" starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Cameron Diaz and Daniel Day-Lewis is finally here.
DiCaprio says, "It was a whole world that I never knew about."
Set in 1860s Manhattan, the film tells the tale of rival immigrant gang leaders and the street-wise woman they both love. As one of the only females on the dark and dirty Rome set, Diaz was so beloved her role was expanded. Leo says, "Cameron was absolutely that little drop of sunshine in a really dark and muddled world."
But Leo quickly learned that a love scene with Diaz wasn't exactly gentle. He says, "I remember Marty coming in and saying, ‘The way I work, she's going to hit you for real.’ And he does 30, 35 takes and she repeatedly hit me and you get dizzy after a while."
Cameron, who plays a skillful pickpocket, was tough off set too, especially when her hotel room was ransacked. She says, "I chased them down but they dropped everything. Luckily."
Now she hopes you and a gang of your friends drop everything to see "Gangs of New York."
