Ryder Sentenced to Probation

She sat quietly as the judge scolded her and looked solemn as she was sentenced to three years probation, a fine, and 60 days of community service and drug counseling.

But Winona Ryder totally lost her cool when the prosecution questioned her motives for mentioning her work to help find missing girl Polly Klaas back in 1993. A bailiff walked towards Winona as she jumped out of her seat in anger. Outside court, Polly Klaas' father Mark was seething. He said, "Winona Ryder may be a double felon, but she’s a double felon with a very big heart and a very generous spirit."

From the moment of her outburst, the actress seemed upset and distracted. This contentious court battle was the end of a nearly year long saga that began when Ryder was arrested for shoplifting.

So was Winona trying to take advantage of her celebrity or a victim of it? While the debate rages, for Winona, the hard work of rebuilding her life and reputation is just beginning.
