'The Lord of the Rings'
Elijah Wood, Liv Tyler, Viggo Mortensen, and Sean Astin are back from middle earth and talking to "Extra" about the crazy 18-month stint in New Zealand where they brought J.R.R. Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings" trilogy to life.
Wood says, "It was great. Guys bonding, a lot of time with swords. It's sort of every male’s fantasy. It was great."
In fact, Elijah, who plays the hobbit Frodo, told "Extra" that their down time became an epic adventure of it's own. He says, "We were given a list at the beginning of the film telling us what we were forbidden from doing: snowboarding, skiing, bungee jumping. I believe we broke every rule on the list."
From rule breaking to bad dreams, Liv Tyler said that living in Tolkien's fantasy world took its toll on her. She says, "I was having terrible nightmares. It really affected me in my imagination."
Even Sean Astin, who plays the hefty hobbit Sam, had some scares. He says, "I made a conscious decision that when it came time to promote ‘Lord of the Rings,’ I wanted not to be looking like the fat guy."
Have no fear; Sean has shed over 35 pounds since completing the films.
And with "The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers" traveling to theaters December 18th, it seems like this journey is a definite must see.
