'Scrubs'
Brotherly love means trouble on "Scrubs" Thursday night. "Ed" star Tom Cavanagh is back to reprise his role as J.D.'s messed-up brother, Dan. And lookout, he's moving in.
Cavanagh says, "He's the screw up, the punk, the no good. But the guy is a genius. He doesn't pay rent, doesn't have to eat, hangs with the brother, meets hot nurses, I smell a spin-off."
And Brother Dan isn't only making house calls; he's invading J.D.'s workspace too.
It is all laughs on TV, but when "Extra" went behind the scenes, it was a somber set.
John McGinley says it is a bittersweet episode for the entire cast because John Ritter was supposed to guest star as J.D.’s dad, like he did last season. But Ritter died a week before taping was to begin.
McGinley says, "I just felt so ripped off. It was kind of like a sledgehammer hit the crew because people were so fond of him when he came here last year."
Cavanagh was looking forward to working with Ritter for the first time. He says, "He’s incredible. He’s as good as they get."
Ritter's scenes were scratched from Thursday night's episode, which now centers on Cavanagh, and his crazy character.
