Matt Damon
Matt Damon arrived to the Fort Lauderdale Film Festival with a deep sense of purpose.
The 32-year old leading man is trying to raise money for a woman who worked on his 1997 hit "The Rainmaker." She has leukemia and her insurance company won't pay for special treatments, just like the plot of the movie.
Damon says, "She put her blood, sweat, and tears into a movie about the same thing, so it's really a sad situation."
Damon sat down with "Extra" for a no-holds barred discussion. Damon revealed he'd like to star in a sequel to "The Bourne Identity.” But Matt admits he's not ready to give Arnold and Vin Diesel a run for their money. He says jokingly, "I think their money is safe."
Damon also talked about his girlfriend, Odessa Whitmore. He wants to set the record straight on reports the two are about to get married. He says, "I'm not engaged. I don't know where the rumors came from. But I always feel guilty when I say that because I have a great girlfriend. And every time I say, 'We're not engaged,' it sounds like an indictment of her."
Damon even shared some concern for his former flame, Winona Ryder, who was convicted of shoplifting last week. He says, "I spent a few years of my life with her. She's about as classy as they come. So I know she's going to be fine."
