Paul Newman's Charity Event

From Julia Roberts and her new hubby Danny Moder to Tom Hanks, Matt Damon, and Chris O’Donnell, it may look like Oscar night at the Kodak Theater. But Hollywood’s elite, including Goldie Hawn and Bruce Willis, gathered to honor the legendary Paul Newman with a benefit to raise money for Paul’s new "The Painted Turtle" camp for sick children.

Tom Hanks says, "This is a world famous thing ever since his face went on the spaghetti sauce long ago. He's a man who lives by what he says he's going to do."

Matt Damon says, "Paul Newman called me up and to me, I’d sell used cars if he asked me to."

The celebrities joined Mr. Newman in a staged reading of "The World of Nick Adams," where Jack Nicholson portrayed Ernest Hemmingway and Annette Bening and Julia Roberts got to giggle their way through the performance. Damon says, "I don't care if you're Tom Hanks or Paul up there, you're nervous!"

And while Matt Damon was shaking in his shoes on stage, Chris O’Donnell let "Extra" in on the scoop backstage. He says jokingly, "Julia was trying to sneak in my dressing room and I said, ‘Look, we're both married. Get the hell outta here."

But on a serious note, Chris told "Extra" that of all the stars here tonight, the one shining brightest is Paul. He says, "It's obviously a huge tribute to Paul. He has raised the bar so high for people in this business."
