She's a former sitcom star and successful businesswoman. From her ThighMaster to diet books, Suzanne Somers has been a role model for healthy living, but last spring, Suzanne was stunned when doctors gave her the devastating news. She says, “I am the last person in the world that I ever, ever thought would hear the words, ‘You have breast cancer.’”

It was during an appearance on “Larry King Live” the actress set off a firestorm of controversy, first dodging questions about liposuction. She explains, “There's a swelling that comes with radiation. I’m just trying to even things out.
Then she took she took heat for not having chemotherapy but instead an alternative treatment called iscador. She says, “It wasn’t me thinking, ‘I knew more.’ It’s just that I did so much research.”
She started taking the mistletoe extract that's supposed to boost the immune system and her days have been good. So far the cancer is in remission. She says, “I'm in that wait and see period. For me, it's like something that's over.”
On the fifth anniversary of her diagnosis, Suzanne wants to start teaching others about her iscador treatments. For now, she's focusing on a new sugar replacement she's come up with.
