Paul McCartney's 'Freedom'
Wednesday November 7, 2001

Paul McCartney’s new song "Freedom" debuted as the inspirational finale at the "Concert for New York” and has become an instant anthem dedicated to a city’s recovery. McCartney told “Extra,” “Shortly after the disaster I started to do a song that was about freedom, our right to it."

Now "Freedom" is being rushed out as a charity single and added to the rock legend's new album "Driving Rain." McCartney's father was a volunteer firefighter in England and the video shows the singer visiting a New York firehouse where the singer expressed faith in the future.

McCartney says, “I hope the world is going toward freedom for everyone. If we get rid of this type of terrorist practice, it will mean people in countries under those regimes will benefit."

The families of the victims who died September 11th will benefit from sales of freedom. All proceeds go the Robin Hood Relief Fund.
