The captivating Angelina Jolie would have never found a whole new life as mother of an adopted Cambodian son, and goodwill ambassador of the United Nations, if not for her new movie "Beyond Borders," an intense love story set in third world countries.
But Jolie and her British costar Clive Owen nearly missed out on this life changing experience, according to Director Martin Campbell. He says, "So many actors came and went. Catherine Zeta-Jones was briefly attached, Kevin Costner was attached. I think Meg Ryan was asked at one point. Ralph Fiennes was definitely involved, and I’m not sure, but I think Richard Gere at one point was approached."
But Jolie says, "I have such a better life because of this experience I've had."
And the star has just been given the prestigious Citizen of the World award by the United Nations for her unselfish relief work in real life.
There's nothing false about Cuba Gooding Jr.'s performance in "Radio." Gooding portrays a real-life story of an illiterate, mentally challenged man who just wanted to play football. Cuba plays a 17-year-old character, which is half the age of the Oscar winner. Gooding says, "He is just such pure goodness."
Joaquin Phoenix is bearing it all in his first animated venture "Brother Bear." He says, "It actually proved to be more difficult that I imagined."
